Bamboo Trading Company has been involved in a meaningful project for more than a year relating to this movement. The Peaceweavers Collection is handcrafted by women’s co-ops in Guatemala. These ladies support their families by creating beautiful necklaces, earrings, bracelets, anklets, and prayer pouches. In many cases these women are widowed and desire to keep their children in school and maintain their independence. They have the option of bringing components home or working in a communal setting. Many times when we receive a shipment we can experience the scent of their fireplaces and homes as we open the boxes. Since their line has been tremendously successful, we feel we are a special part of this cottage industry. Semi-precious stones, wood, shell, leather and all natural materials are more and more desirable as wearable art. The entire Handmade Collection features pieces from this category. The Terra Stone Collection is our first “Made in the USA” venture and we are so excited about this project. Beautiful turquoise is used in handcrafting necklaces, earrings and bracelets.
